TAXES AND SPENDING Our State budget has been growing at twice the rate of inflation. That’s got to stop. I will call for legislation to cap the growth in taxes and spending. I agree with Governor Sanford, government should NEVER be allowed to grow faster than the ability of our citizens to pay the bills.
It’s time to put parents and teachers in charge.Good teachers are just as frustrated as good parents. Our children deserve a first class education in a safe learning environment. I will fight to see that every education tax dollar gets into the classrooms of Aiken County.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT We need to work for the right kind of economic development. Offering “cheap labor” is not the path to prosperity. By investing in job-training, higher education and new technology, we can attract family-friendly economic development with better jobs.
QUALITY OF LIFE Lack of infrastructure and a lack of planning in Columbia have become serious problems. Aiken is growing and the time has come to ensure we receive our fair share of infrastructure funds. The quality of life in our community depends on it. |
